- Quick Search has three levels of searching.
- Shallow search whilst typing, and two deeper levels after pressing enter or clicking search.
- Shallow Search.
- Searching based upon Client name and Phone Numbers (and other contact methods, e.g., Email, depending on the database size) occurs while the User is typing into the Quick Search box.
- This can be disabled from Tools, Global Settings, Search page as can searching on Account Name which may cause unpredictable results for some companies.
- Deeper Searching.
- Pressing enter will perform a deeper (and therefore slower) search and will also search Security Statements.
- Dropdown database combo boxes.
- Dropdown combo boxes, such as Clients and Accounts, integrate to the new Quick Search.
- Right-clicking on the control will either show the top match (the item flagged with a tick) if no items are selected, otherwise a list of all selected rows.
- Various other forms, e.g. Account Payment wizard, also integrate via a new Search button next to the Code.
- This opens a Quick Search popup.
- Simply press <F6> and start typing.
- Or Ctrl+Q if Find button showing.
- The Quick Search behaviour can be customised via the Tools, User Preferences, Search page, e.g., to only show the 'Search' button.
- This is the default behaviour.
- Pressing the Escape key will clear the contents of the textbox and return you to the shortcuts tab.
