Lodgements are the mechanism for consolidating receipts to make up a bank deposit. Payment transactions entered via the Payments and Bank Entry options can be grouped and banked together.

Normally payments received are processed through Payments and/or Bank Entry, and then to consolidate all outstanding payments, usually daily, you process a Lodgement. The Lodgements Process will print the lodgement form to include with cheques to deposit at the bank.
