Current data can be corrupted by such events as:
- Physical defect in the fixed disk surface, a hard disk crash. This may occur at any stage, and although not an everyday occurrence no drive will last forever – its not a question of if it’s a question of when.
- Equipment malfunction. Although computers are very reliable, there is always a possibility of failure
- Power failures. We recommend you install an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) on all critical computer equipment to not only guard against power failures but power surges.
- Operator errors. eg. switching off a computer without shutting it down properly.
- System errors. It has been said that all but the most trivial software includes program bugs. This includes the Operating System (and any associated drivers), Databases and finPOWER Connect itself. Whilst all software developers attempt to release "bug-free" software, a user may process something in a particular sequence, use certain combinations of operations, or do something not previously conceived by other users and testers of the software that cause a system crash or corruption.
